Hello and welcome all!  I just wanted to let you know that I'm alive and well.  Totally frustrated but alive, and not from the cigarettes but none other than....AOL/AOHELL.

I can't remember if it was Wed or Thurs night that I opened my Paint Shop while online.  I tried opening my documents in the Paint Shop and Animation Shop.  They froze, wouldn't open and totally froze my pc.  I had been having problems inserting pics and graphics in e-mail for a few days prior.  So, I did the restart....bah hah.  Guess what...once again I have damaged files in my AOL software.  No biggie, so I thought, because this happened about six months ago.   I had to remove my 9.0, get my cd rom and reinstall.  Didn't lose anything because I only removed the 9.0 but none of the other AOL files.

LOL...of course, it ended up a PIA because I've had my CD rom for 9.0 for years.  I keep it in a zip loc bag on a shelf on the pc desk.  The bag was there but the cd wasn't in it.  Still, I thought not a problem because Joey has dozens of cd's just lying on the shelves.  I figured it was mixed with those.  Nope....can't find the darned thing anywhere.

I wasn't able to get online because AOL wasn't recognizing my DSL.  Somehow, I did manage to get online and contacted tech support because I haven't gone free.  GRRR...the first said they don't send them anymore.  The second I got disconnected from.  Finally, the third tech said it would take 7-10 days to send it, I could get a cd for it at Walmart or he sent me the link to save to my desktop.

I didn't want to remove the 9.0 without being sure I could install it.  God forbid I couldn't get back online until I found a cd.  I went into my programs...lo and behold I can't find AOL 9.0.  I opened the AOL to remove's not there.  All the toolbars, security crap, etc are.  My son thought I was brain dead so he came and looked scratching his head.

I can download the link they sent but if I don't remove the old one, the damaged files will remain.

Long story if I ever have a short story....I haven't restarted my pc since them.  AOL is working fairly well for now but I do have to search for the darned 9.0 and find out where the heck it is so I can remove it.

Cigarette update:  I'm doing well, I think.  I'm down to about six a day.  I've had the same pack since Wed and still have about 7 left.  I'm slowly ridding my amounts of nicotine.  I also really can't stand the taste of them so it won't be long before I just dump em.

If you don't see me around much, it's because I haven't been able to clear up the damaged file thingy.  I need my Becky up here but it's snowing, she's busy, so I may have to bite the bullet and contact the nitwits at AOL again.

Love you all......CHRIS

OH Chris I'm so sorry AOL is being satanic to you. They started giving me grief as well this past week. Seems improvements only bring you headaches and more headaches. Your doing great hon on the smoking!! (Hugs) Indigo

Sorry about that AOHell you're going through.  1st thing that I do whenever I get some obscure or weird error, I always restart my computer. I wouldn't restart now if you've done anything with files or anything.  Hope you can find a disk. I don't even know if I have one! LOL
You ROCK on the smoking. You're almost there kid!! Hang in there! I'm rootin for ya.
Chilly hugs, Barb

I was having the same problem with AOL this morning.  Two of the computers I could get on AOL, the other two it couldn't find the DSL.  What a pain.  Took a few tries and some aggravation before all computers were on AOL.

I so admire you for doing so well in your determination to stop smoking.  I've never smoked, but one of my dear sisters has never been able to quit.   She's tried many times, but it just has too tight of a grip on her.  I worry about her very much.  Keep haning in there!

Turn Off and wait 8-10 seconds and turn back on helps.  (not a restart)
I too have been having more propblems than ever!  I don't even use AOL FTP anymore.  I can never get on.  Never!  The alerts are all screwed up for everyone.  O-well...we will ge through this!  Quit smoking - You can do it!  :)     Tracy

Hi, first congratulation on your cigarette reduction. I understand that is a very tough thing to quit, or so my son says who has quit a number of times, but has not given up and just quit again.  I shuddered when you described AOL hell.  My aol came with my computer.  But I hate the connectivity service but can't figure out any way to uninstall it and go back to normal.  I tried and uninstalled the whole thing. Now I am thinking of Broadband so I can hear music and see videos but I am afraid of all the technical aspects.  I must build up my desire beyond my fear!  But I absolutely love my new computer!   Gerry

Love that opening graphic.  My computer friend says it's all to blame on I.E. 7 and 9.0vr....she says keep the 9.0se.  And to turn off the phfishing....internet properties;tools; general......  I haven't got there yet either and I'm getting ill!

Hi Chris... I am so so proud of you about the smoking thing... It is great. You will feel (and smell) so much better.  I am sorry about your AOL problems, that really stinks, my computer is prolly from the 1800's, so I have issues with mine all the time as well, hence why I hardly ever come online.  Love and miss ya,

Ahhhhhhhhh the problems we encounter!!!!! If anyone wants to piss me off... just let me not be able to get online and do the things I want to do!!!!! LOL!!!!! I am soooooo addicted to AOL and the internet... I get down right mean when I have problems online!!!! Hope you find it soon!!!! I know this sounds stupid and I'm sure you have already done it but go to search and put in AOL 9.0 and see if it finds it!!!
