The skies keep dropping buckets of rain around here.  This has been going on for days on end.  It's warm which is nice but soon will end.  The rain is supposed to change over to snow tonight...grrr.

Smoking update...no I didn't cold turkey it yet.  Emotionally, it's been rough on me lately.  I smoke no more and usually less than half a pack a day.  That is the first step.  I will be smoke free in a month or so.  I have noticed that the smoker's cough I had since my ear infection in the fall has disappeared.  I am starting to sneeze and cough up all the crap that has been sitting in my lungs so there is progress being made.  I think smoking cessation is sort of like dieting...we have to do what works for ourselves.

I do have some problems on weekends controlling the amount of smoking but do not go over my half pack limit.  When I'm working it's far less.  I know the time is coming when I will have to bite the bullet.

Anyway, my thought for the day, week, whatever is reflected in my tag.  We really must be a friend to ourselves, love ourselves, accept our quirks; we are far from perfect.  Beating ourselves emotionally is totally non-productive.

As many of you know from my tag  journal, I have been trying to get my clothes under control...no small task as I have the smallest room with a ridiculous closet.  It was the baby's room previously...9X10.  The closet is not deep.  ROLF...I have to use those baby hangers because the louevered doors won't shut with full size hangers.  I have two plastic containers of summer clothes.  Only half of my winter clothes are jammed in that closet, and it's not that I have tons of clothes.  That closet is tiny.  I bought this neat wardrobe thingy at Home Depot that is sort of a canvas color and zippers and is on wheels.  It's got all kinds of pockets and things on the side.  Joey is going to put it together in Megan's room today.  After I get the other room totally empty, I want to shampoo the carpet, then wheel the new thingy in there.  I'm just hoping I have enough room to hang the rest of my stuff in it.  Storage in this place is a huge problem.  I've gotten rid of just about all I can so keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm sort of feeling like my strep is coming back...my fault because I didn't take my medication as diligently as I should have.

I have the day off today as it's Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday.  I'm hoping to get the room cleared and shampooed today.

I think I'm back off to bed for an hour or so.  I'm always up at my usual time even on my day's off.

Take care all.....the winter drears will soon be gone....

I wish i had more closet space, as it is now my laundry basket and wardrobe is filled with clothes. I don't know, I think i might need to clean my closet out and get rid of things that i dont wear very often.

Well done for cutting down on smoking, its not any easy thing to do and I do believe that different things work for different people. but you sound motivated and that's what counts, don't give up because you can do it.

Hope you enjoy your day off!

I think quitting smoking was the single most hardest thing I ever did.  That fact that the cigarette companies deliberately add addictive ingredients to really hook makes it even harder.  They should make that practice illegal.  Good luck to you.

Good morning Chris,
First...love your tags...saw them at your other journal.  Beautiful!
We had rain off and on for days now...snow may be coming our way with cold air tomorrow.  Going to be in the 60's again today!  Weird weather!  It takes time to quit smoking...do it at your own pace.  I've met many who have quit, some who can't...but it is an individual thing.  My prayers are with you that it works at your own pace.  Talk about clothes and closets...we ran out of room and have some of our clothes hanging on racks in the garage! LOL...at least you are not at that stage...we need a bigger house to hold our clothes, LOL
I pray you are not getting strep, don't over do things, take meds and rest up...have a wonderful week, hugs and love,
Joyce

i think when you quit smoking, it is common to get very flu like sick. I know how hard it is!! That organizer thingie sounds cool.....you would hate me if you saw the closets in my bedroom. Rick has a huge walk in and i have a huge walk in closet. Most of my stuff is on the floor.
i love you,
lisa

Chris, you are so right about not being so hard on ourselves.  We are our own worse critics.  The smoking thing.. it is hard.  It will happen though.. just have faith, but do it the way you feel is easiest for you.  Well.. none of it's easy, but, you know what I mean..

I don't envy you having to clear out that closet.  I hate doing stuff like that.  Have to literally force myself! lol

I hope you aren't coming down with strep again... that would suck!  I know how sick you were the last time.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers..

Love you
jackie

I'm SO VERY PROUD of you Chris!!! You will not believe how long & how nasty the stuff is that you cough up is. Have you noticed being able to smell things better and how much better food tastes? Do areas where people smoke like around buildings and stuff make you want to gag yet? LOL I tell ya, as a reformed smoker I'm the biggest snob.  I JUST cannot take the smell of old smoke and stuff. OMG, we painted out house after we cleaned itfrom top to bottom and I have this pic of the ceiling how YELLOW it was.  Crazy.  I'm praying for you and I know you can do it.  And I wish it would stop raining for you but I don't wish the cold on you.  It is supposed to get above freezimg tomorrow.  YAY!!  Take care and you've got this thing beaten.  Hugs, Barb

sometimes it is so hard to be a friend to yourself. We judge ourselves so easily. I am at fault there. Goodluck with the smoking. I am getting there day by day. when my husband is gone it is easier, and of course when I am working.

My second son is on his 4th week of quitting smoking  Congratulations on getting this far with your struggle.  I always head toward weight loss and have not done a while lot yet except lose a pound or two I put on during the holidays.  I find buying clothes motivates me so I head for the thrift stores when I need a pickup.  My closet is jammed, but fortunately it is quite big.  I have always envied those fortunate to have walk in closets which my daughter has in the new house they could order to custom.  My son has one of these trees I guess you would call it where you can hang quite a lot just out in the open.  Gerry
