The House

I finally got to see Megan's living quarters for the coming two years.  The sun was shining so brightly that I couldn't see my resolution screen.  LOL...who in the world cuts the top off with a digital camera?  Moi...  This house is very typical to the turn of the century architecture that dots the hillsides of Pittsburgh.  Megan is living on a bluff called Mt Washington right across the river from downtown Pittsburgh.  It is a sightseers paradise for the views.  There is a century old incline that still runs up and down the mount.  Unfortunately, my batteries died plus we were short on time but next week I plan to show off some of the lovely sides of Pittsburgh.

This is the incline, not my pic, that has the neatest cars that people still use to commute to the city.  Of course, the cars were running today.  We have to go back again next week.  I'm hoping the weather holds up.  There's the neatest little turn of the century station at the top (Megan lives on top of that hill).

The house, you enter into a foyer with the beautiful curved stairway...no pictures because there were too many boxes in the way, straight into the kitchen with a lovely patio off of the breakfast nook.

Pictures never seem to do justice.  This house is so pretty and all newly renovated.  Becky was saying it's far too nice for Megan.  We had to laugh.  I think what she meant was that she paid a fortune to live in places about a tenth as nice as this when she was in college.

The diningroom is right off of the living room with the old fashioned doors between them.  There is a lovely fireplace in the living room.  By next week, it will be furnished.  The roommates parents are providing some very nice things.  I did donate my old 27" Magnavox, some lamps, and the coffee and end tables and bagless vac.  They don't seem to mind at all that my funds are limited.  There are three bedrooms upstairs and a finished loft in the attic.  They drew straws.  Megan got the shortest and ended up with the smallest room.  She had her tape measure out today and is already making drawings with Becky for furniture arrangement.

I guess I did get the fireplace in one.  The two sis's are hamming it for the camera.  Neither were in full make-up so it took some convincing to get them to pose.

LOL..and what would a brother be if he wasn't carrying on?  He is helicopter spinning Megan.

My BF on the porch with Meg and Joey.

And Mom on the porch with Megan and Joey.  Poor Becky was the picture taker.  She also had her camera and was exploring the upper floors.  Having such a love of art, she was checking every nook and cranny and all the woodwork out.

I took the kids and went to TGIF's to celebrate Becky's acceptance into the Ph.d. program and a new beginning for Megan.

And that was a Sunday in the day of the life of this mom, and I must say a good one...........

CHRIS

What a wonderful day! Everyone is happy and having a good time.  NICE...isn't it? We were on one of those inclines once, Tennessee I think.  Something that always concerned me... why do they have 1 way tickets.  I know you can drive up (around and up) but then you have your car, unless someone dropped you off!! Maybe that's it!

So glad you had such a fine day!  Big Smiles!
