Let it Snow

The first big blizzard of the year has struck.  Snow is falling about 2 inches an hour.  Yesterday, it was 40 and rather balmy.  Most of the previous snow had melted.

Around 1 this afternoon, Joey and I decided to go to the local Mexican restaurant and the store since they are close and on top of the hill so it's all pretty level to get there.  LOL...my car got totally stuck in the driveway and didn't even make it to the lane or alley, as I call it.  I was flipping out because it sounded like my good car was going to blow up.

We finally got it out, ate (I forgot the dang doggy bag at the restaurant...grrr....and went to the store.)  I had to buy Morton salt pellets that are meant for well water to get traction after the shoveling is done.

Of course, I had to take some pics:

LOL...That is my ancient "lean to" garage in the rear.

My neighbor's garage is behind me.  They don't use it because they get totally stuck in the snow.

  Wonder who is really shoveling???

This is the rear of my humble abode.  Our property extends 1/2 an acre behind me beyond the garage.  There is about a foot of snow because the pool deck is close to two feet above the ground.

A side view....there is a purple bucket that we wash the cars with almost buried by the deck.  Haven't gotten the walkway or deck done except to get in the door.

I took a vacation day today.  Glad I did because it will be a nightmare for those having to get home.  I called Rose at work at 2, and they still hadn't closed the building.  I may be off tomorrow.  I have the vacation time and don't intend to risk life and limb; that's if we can even get out of the driveway area tomorrow.

So, how are my other JLand buddies in the eastern USA doing with the snow?????

Your house is so nice, Chris!  And that's  a pretty pic of you! Wow I just can't imagine living in snow.  When I see snow I have to travel up to the mountains to see it.  And if I tire of it I can leave.  Maybe I'd be in better shape if I shovelled snow, huh?
Stay warm and safe.

The snow looks pretty but I'm so glad we don't get it like that! I agree, best to take a day off tomorrow than risk going to work in those conditions. Stay warm! Jeannette xx  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/

WOW, HOW PRETTY!!!!!!! I love it, love it. I love how nature quiets in snow. I sware this happens. I just feels like a silence that we need. I know the snow is frustrating but I need its new view around my surroundings. How long did it take you guys to shovel the driveway? That is some good exercise, well deserving a glass of warm Rum at the end of the day.....

I have so many issues,RLOL...I so like feel imagery in so much that you write and a few others too and your probably thinkin...Raven get over yourself, its frickin cold here,,lol.........~Raven

It's been snowing here all day.  Not sure how much we have right now, but till it's over tomorrow night, were looking at 6-11 inches with a layer of sleet.  Nice huh?  Have good warm night.

Well.. I'm not on the East Coast, I'm here in Cali with what is supposed to be rain showers, but there has been just enough falling to smudge he dirt on my car.  Sucks.  Seems every journal I read is suffering with this same snow storm.  It's just ridiculous how much you all are getting!  Guess this makes up for mother natures slow start with winter this year, eh?

Okay.. done rambling.  I just wanted to say hi, and stick my 10 cents worth in! ;)

Hugs and love

Chris,
I hope you are safe and cozy.  A cup of hot chocolate sure sounds good.  We are in round 8 now.  It sure is beautiful but I'm starting to get a little tired of the snow.
Stay warm,
David

I can surre see what iyou are shoveling but at least you look dressed warm.  This is a world I have left behind so many years I do not know how I would act if had to go back in it.  I have to feel sympathy. Hmm, well there is exercise in a good shoveling they say.   It can surely hlep you if it doesn't kill you.   My sympathy,   Gerry
